Zinfandel vines can be seen terraced on the hillside behind the D’Agostini Winery. By 1920, Enrico D’Agostini had bought out his partners and was the sole owner of the winery, which he would eventually pass down to his sons. This photograph from the early 1930s shows the home, winery, and vineyards. (Courtesy of Armenio and Mary Lou D’Agostini.)

Many winery families used the bottom level of their homes as a wine cellar, as it was cooler and held a constant temperature throughout the year. The children of Enrico and Fannelli line the roof and porch of the house in this photograph from the 1920s. Enrico stands to the far left, and next to him is Clarence Flick, owner of Omo Ranch. The house can still be seen at Shenandoah Estate in the Shenandoah Valley. (Courtesy of Armenio and Mary Lou D’Agostini.)
